Hey there, so I know it's a little self gratifying but certainly a strange coincidence too, but I just received the new/debut Simon Dawes album (a band I have followed closely for while now) and they gave me a thank you credit!!!.. woohoo.. and all I ever did was help fill the room when they were starting out, very kind.. but here's the koinky dink.. their manager calls me up and let's me know that they're going out with our good friends Band of Horses for a US tour, which will be awesome, but it looks like he'll be in town this weekend staying at Casa Richard (allegedly he has some killer new material from Simon Dawes and a very interesting new project from Smashing Pumpkins keyboard player Chris Holmes, Brian from Filter and a crew of guests under the name Ashtar Command).... pheewww OK I feel like I just downloaded hope the punctuation helped make some sense of the data
Hey, Zune news has been so slooooowww... I'm starting to worry about you guys. But seriously, the news for today is that Apple's music videos are 640 x 480 now. Nice to see someone take a step towards offering decent quality music videos. Also, it looks like their new iTV device will directly compete with Media Center, and more specifically, Media Center Extenders. Last but not least, the video iPod is getting casual games. I thought this was Microsoft's turf. This is just the sort of thing I wrote about in my blog. Texas Hold 'em, Pacman, Tetris, and Bejeweled, just to name a few. Oh I forgot, this is a Zune site. Sorry... later.

I'd rather play bejeweled on a Zune... lol. It's good to hear from you too Rich...I'm hearing rumblings about press stuff tomorrow. I hope it's true because I'd really like to see how this Zune stuff is really going to pan out. I kind of backed off my with expectations of the device. Really, I'm enjoying a lot of quality music right now with the new Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, and Christina Aguillera albums. I just want something I can watch high-quality music-videos on in addition to my subscription stuff. The "sexy back" video is crazy, and so is "ring the alarm." And, I continue to hold off on buying a Gigabeat until I hear more official deets on the Zune.
I wish there were more ways for you guys to include artist-inspired content. Spruce up cover art, for example. Make it move, give it some motion, have artist-inspired background themes. How about artist-inspired visualizations ... who wants to look at techy rainbows? People would actually like stuff like this. Staring at a static album cover while your music is playing just isn't cutting it for me. Some innovation is needed in this space. I hope with all the community stuff and the artist-driven theories you guys have, we get to see cool stuff like this. On the 360, you can download themes from your favorite games to use as wallpaper on the system. I hope you guys have similar plans for the Zune. More ways for the artists (as opposed to the big wigs in suits) to make money sounds good to me.
